What:  Global Winter Wonderland Presented by International Culture Exchange Group at Cal Expo

Global Winter Wonderland returns to Sacramento with all new lanterns and an exciting new theme — Magic of the Seasons! The multi-cultural theme park and magical world of light spanning 17 acres at Cal Expo will unveil sensational new attractions and a dazzling show, Circus of Light presents Acrobats on Ice.

Global Winter Wonderland kicks off with special opening day festivities and a Global Parade celebrating cultures around the world. Tickets are now on sale and returning guests will enjoy a totally unique experience as they tour the stunning illuminated displays — some towering up to 7 stories — celebrating the Magic of the Seasons.

Global Winter Wonderland has also searched the globe to bring the very best and most unique entertainers to perform this season. The Circus of Light presents Acrobats on Ice show is a thrilling performance on ice, included in the ticket price. Global Winter Wonderland will also feature an ice rink and skate rentals, Santa photos, carnival rides, an international food court, a second stage for live cultural performances and holiday shopping.

KCRA-3 and KQCA present Western Health Advantage’s 22nd annual Run to Feed the Hungry benefiting Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. You definitely want to be a part of the largest Thanksgiving Day run in the country. What’s new this year? Groups as small as four members may register as a team. Team members will receive an upgraded long-sleeve technical shirt with personalized team name on sleeve. Fun training socks are also available.

What: Turkey Trot For Teal Presented by Strong as Steele

The 5th annual 5K Turkey Trot For Teal returns Thanksgiving morning. All proceeds go to the childrens’ cancer foundation Strong-as-Steele. There will be medals, t-shirts, prizes, and other goodies for all participants. Note: This event will happen rain or shine.

What: Holiday Drive for Foster Youth Presented by United Way California Capital Region

Help foster youth have stockings and presents to open this holiday season through United Way’s Women in Philanthropy Holiday Gifts Drive for foster youth. Visit United Way’s website to sign up to bring specific gifts for children in Sacramento County’s Child Protective Services or provide a $30 donation to purchase a holiday stocking for a foster youth in United Way’s programs.

United Way’s Women in Philanthropy brings local women together to help local foster youth. Women in Philanthropy members are first responders in raising funds for United Way to provide financial literacy courses and matched savings accounts designed specifically for foster youth.

Join Old Sacramento for the grand lighting of the City of Sacramento Christmas Tree. Countdown with other Sacramentans as the district lights up the tree for the first time. Followed immediately by the first performance of Macy’s Theatre of Lights, this is a night you won’t want to miss. Kick off the season with this beloved and free holiday tradition!

Note: The tree is located at the corner of K St and Front St and the best views of both the lighting and Theatre of Lights is from the middle of K St.

What: 20th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner Presented by People Helping People at Pannell Meadowview Community Center

At the 20th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner there will be a full and traditional Thanksgiving meal. There will also be free speciality activities including: face paintings, a balloon artist, clowns, and strolling magic.
